Growth of several cariogenic strains of oral streptococci in a chemically defined medium.
A chemically defined medium in which Streptococcus mutans strains AHT, BHT, GS-5, JC-2, Ingbritt, At6T, At9T, 6715, and OMZ-176 and Streptococcus salivarius strain HHT grew rapidly to high turbidities was formulated. Maximal turbidities of each strain were observed after 8 to 12 h of aerobic growth. The subsequent transfer of exponentially growing cells into fresh medium resulted in growth at t...
متن کاملChemically defined medium for oral microorganisms.
We formulated a chemically defined medium consisting of 14 inorganic salts, 23 amino acids, 23 vitamins and other factors, seven purines and pyrimidines, and glucose which would successfully support the growth of a wide variety of oral microorganisms. Of 204 oral isolates representing 20 genera and 60 species, 197 maintained viability through six serial transfers.
متن کاملP-136: In Vitro Development of Ovine Oocytes Matured in A Chemically Defined Medium
Background: Despite great advances achieved in the field of in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM), almost all IVM media are supplemented with undefined component which not only pose the risk of pathogen transmission but also hinders our knowledge of molecular mechanisms of maturation. One of these components is serum that containing various concentration of unknown molecules affecting cellular proce...
متن کاملA new chemically defined medium for the growth and sporulation of Bacillus cereus strains in anaerobiosis.
A new chemically defined liquid medium, MODS, was developed for the aerobic growth and anaerobic growth and sporulation of Bacillus cereus strains. The comparison of sporulation capacity of 18 strains of B. cereus has shown effective growth and spore production in anaerobiosis..
متن کاملGrowth of purified astrocytes in a chemically defined medium.
Astrocytes purified from primary cultures of neonatal rat cerebrum can now be grown in a synthetic medium supplemented with putrescine, prostaglandin F2 alpha, insulin, fibroblast growth factor, and hydrocortisone. These five supplements have a marked synergistic effect on growth when used in combination but have little effect when used individually. Astrocytes grown in the defined medium exhib...
